After a successful show honoring the ocean, Lucy (an unintentional activist) turns her thoughtful attention to fields and woodlands preserved by D and R Greenway Land Trust. She invites the viewer – witness – to appreciate the trees and fields that she – witness – honors, knowing that the trees, farm fields and pastures themselves have long been witness to a changing ecosystem and “human system”.
In contrast to her previous show of bold colors in oil, “Witnesses” is a collection created predominantly of graphite on paper.
Opening Reception April 28 5:30-7:30

Lucy Kalian and Clean Ocean Action invite you to dive-in and discover the world’s largest habitat. From sand to seashells, coral to currents, waves to beaches, this interactive exhibition will delve into the science of the ocean. See the Museum’s collection of over 2000 sand samples, come face to face with local marine birds or read an ocean tale in our ocean book nook. Planet Ocean features “Sandy Hook Home”, a mural commissioned by Clean Ocean Action and created by Lucy Kalian. “Sandy Hook Home” transforms trash picked up on COA Beach Sweeps in to art.
